I had to do a presentation at work a while back on Top Designers of 2011 and my lovely friend Sasha turned me onto Brooklyn based typographer Jessica Hische. There's just something about hand-lettering that gets me going. I sincerely wish I had more opportunity to get my hands into work like this. No wait! – make that my newest ambition.

Being inspired by her process and her work (and supreme jealousy that she worked for Louise Fili Ltd. shortly after getting out of school) got me thinking more about actually designing type rather than always using or basing things off of system fonts – not to mention the cross-over of typography as a more intrinsic visual element of design and illustration.

Her work is remarkable, she's got an adorable/ultra hip personality and best of all she's incredibly candid about her work and experieces. What's not to love? Please go check her out.

On a final note one of my many idols Florence Welch of Florence & the Machine is collaborating on a Buddy Holly tribute album. This was quite possibly the best news I heard before 9AM this morning. In her rendition of Not Fade Away her voice is stunning as per usual and the video is a treat. Album drops on June 28. Go get em'.

(Also does anyone notice that no matter what you google image these days you're guaranteed to get at least one picture of one of those Twilight kids?)
